We know that young children are active learners. So, our approach to early childhood education is one of teaching through activities to facilitate growth in the areas of social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. In this regard, we pattern our philosophy after the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards with developmentally appropriate practices. There are three types of learning environments that must be present in classrooms in order to be successful: naturalistic, informal and structured. Our classrooms provide all three environments for daily learning opportunities. The evidence becomes clear as we see children problem solve through experiences, use higher level thought processing such as critical thinking skills and as teachers pose situations to children to figure out for themselves. And finally, we believe in respecting the dignity and worth of every individual within each family and value every child as unique.
