Newsletter - Dear Family

May is here and my head is still in April. I have no idea where the months go and can honestly say, I simply canot keep up! This month is full of things to get ready for. We have Cinco de Mayo which we will celebrate with tacos for lunch ! We also have Mother's Day to look forward to which we will celebrate her at school on Friday, May 10th. Our Pre K graduation will be on May 17th and the parents of those children graduating will be invited for the ceremony and lunch so keep a look out for those details. At the end of May we are closed for Memorial Day and then we start Camp Wow on May 28th. All of the trips are booked and you will be receiving packages of permission slips and calendars as soon as they are all printed and collated. I am sure we will have a great summer as we are going to be all over Columbus on our trips. Our summer program will run from May 28th through August 9th and we will of course, offer care for those school age children that need it before and after camp. Our theme for camp this year will be "Gearing Up for Science". We are looking forward to a lot of designing, planning, theorizing and blowing things up! I am excited to see what we will learn through lots of hands on activities and to find out how many budding scientists we have here at COA. If you have any questions about our camp or the theme please do not hesitate to ask.

Bentley books are published six times throughout the year. Children anticipate their opportunity to participate in the process. Bentley, our mascot, helps promote a lifelong love of learning by acting out the authors’ script. Your children are the authors!

Measurement: We measure to figure and compare height, length, and width; area and volume; time; etc. Measurement is expressed in conventional units such as inches and feet, ounces and pounds etc. But children may express height as,” Five bowls high!” SO, measure things! Use a ruler, a hand, a shoe or spoon. But measure! Talk about time!
